Chris' Sailfish "Janus" and MacGregor Sailing Canoe.

The Sailfish, 'Janus', was the owner's first boat. Built in 1970, it was three times Australian open champion boat in consecutive years to 1975 to 1977. The MacGregor two-masted sailing canoe was built by the owner and launched in October 2017. It is clinker-built, has a length of 4.8 m and beam of 0.8 m. The hull is planked with Gaboon marine ply and weighs 33 kg. Spars are Oregon.

The Sailfish, 'Janus', was the owner's first boat. It was designed by Lain Oughtred, an Australian who was lives in Scotland. Built in 1970, It is constructed and sealed with Bote Cote, and finished with Aquacote Topcoats.
It was three times Australian Open Champion boat in consecutive years 1975 to 1977. The Sailfish "Janus also sailed in seven consecutive National Tile from 1971/72.

It underwent a restoration in 2016. Was subsequently badly damaged in a motor vehicle accident in 2018. Has since been structurally repaired and redecked. Hull sealed with Bote Cote epoxy. Deck finished with Aquacote Topcoat Clear, and bottom/sides finished with Aquacote Epoxy Undercoat and Aquacote Topcoat Red. “Janus” was owner’s first boat and she has been greatly treasured. Boats of other classes have come and gone, but she will never be parted with.

Sailing Clubs : Blue Mountains Sailing Club, Wentworth Falls Lake, Blue Mountains, NSW and, subsequently - Nepean Sailfish Sailing Club, Nepean River, Penrith, NSW. Chris frequently sailed as visitor at Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club, Sydney, NSW.

Build - Klinki (Araucaria hunsteinii) marine ply for deck and bottom of hull,

- Western Red Cedar for keel, strongback, stringers, sides and nose-cap,

- Oregan (Douglas fir) for mast and boom,

- Meranti sheathed with fibreglass for centreboard and rudder.

Hull stripped back to bare wood October 2016, then coated with Bote Cote epoxy. Deck finished with Aquacote Topcoat Clear Polyurethane, and bottom/sides finished with Aquacote Epoxy Undercoat and Aquacote Topcoat Red Polyurethane.
